The airport area was named because it's the area of Irvine closest to John Wayne area in Southern California. John Wayne Aiprot SNA was originally named Orange County Airport, the county Board of Supervisors renamed it in 1979. The location of this area is fantastic and is quickly becoming the "downtown" of Irvine and Orange County with many high-rise luxury buildings. The views and amenities in the Airport are hard to beat. The Airport Area consists of six fantastic communities: 3000 plaza, Avenue One, The Marquee at Park Place, The Metropolitan, The Plaza, and Watermarke.
