     Irvine is a master planned community 40 miles south of Los Angeles and 85 miles north of San Diego. Irvine is home to numerous colleges and universities including Chapman, The University of California Irvine, Concordia University, and Irvine Valley College. In addition, Irvine is the Orange County center for the University of Southern California.

      Irvine was formally incorporated on December 28, 1971 and consists of nearly 70 square miles. The population of Irvine was 209,806 as of January 1, 2008. The city is made up of 22 different areas;
